A SHORT HISTORY OF CHIGWELL

Chigwell was formerly in the forest of Essex. Today two small patches of woodland still exist within the historic parish, and the town still holds a lot of rural charm. Charles Dickinson even wrote that Chigwell is 'the greatest place in the world' in his novel Barnaby Rudge. Today, the town is home to around 12,000 residents. The popular TV show, Birds of a Feather was also set in this picturesque town.
